The Observe dashboard is designed to surface actionable intelligence across all connected data channels.
Navigate to Observe
Click Observe in the navigation bar.
Observe
The Observe dashboard consists of the following sections:
Correlations
Correlations between events appear as colored pills that span varying numbers of days. You will see correlations that span 1-5 days on the bottom row (green pills), 6-14 days on the middle row (purple pills), and 15+ days on the top row (gray pills). Overlapping correlations will appear as a line at the bottom of each row. Clicking on a correlation pill brings up the Correlation Details Side Drawer for that correlation.
Dates that are annotated will be underlined. Hovering over an annotated date will display a hover panel listing the annotation(s).
To add a new annotation, use the Annotate button at the top of the page.
Correlations Hover Panel
Hovering your cursor over a correlation pill or line will display a hover panel containing a list of correlations with (up to four of) their detected events, including:
- Length of the event
- Peak value of the Metric the event is based on
- % Change of the metric (peak value from expected)
- Valuation Change Δ of the metric (peak value from expected)
- Event Source (channel)
- Details of the event
Clicking on See Full Details will open the Correlation Details Side Drawer for that correlation.
Detected Events
Detected events are represented on the heat map, with categories on the vertical axis and dates on the horizontal axis. The darker the square, the more events detected for that day/category. Click on a date in the heat map to select it. This will update what's displayed in Revenue Generation & Brand Value Events.
- 3rd Party Media: 3rd Party Media data channels include TV, Radio, Podcast, and Web (news/PR). Note that Web is included in the base product. If you do not see TV, Radio, and Podcast content, you will need to adjust your subscription.
- Social: The Social category aggregates all linked social media data, such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. This category tracks engagement and various other metrics of individual posts.
- Web & Apps: The Web & Apps category tracks website traffic, including referral source, individual page views, search terms, and on-sight search.
- Conversion: The Conversion category represents transaction, revenue, and conversion metrics via GA3 goals and e-commerce transactions, GA4 conversion events, and/or Adobe Analytics conversion events, depending on what system you use.
Note: You can filter the heat map to New Events only (events first occurring on that day) or show All Events (including continuing events) using the toggle. The heat map will populate accordingly.
Dates that are annotated will be underlined. Hovering over an annotated date will display a hover panel listing the annotation(s).
To add a new annotation, use the Annotate button at the top of the page.
Detected Events Hover Panel
Hovering your cursor over the heat map, at a specific date and category, will display a hover panel containing a list of (up to four) detected events, including:
- Length of the event
- Peak value of the Metric the event is based on
- % Change of the metric (peak value from expected)
- Valuation Change Δ of the metric (peak value from expected)
- Event Source (channel)
- Details of the event
Clicking on Details next to an event will open the Side Drawer for that event.
Revenue Generation & Brand Value Events
The Revenue Generation & Brand Value Events section of the Observe dashboard breaks out viewable metrics for all events for the day selected in the Detected Events heat map. Use the dropdown menu in the upper right-hand corner to limit the display by Type (category). There are four sections.
- Annotations: This section will display a list view of annotations for the day selected. To edit or delete an annotation, click on the edit icon next to it.
-
New Correlations or Continued Correlations: If there is a correlation for the day selected, this section will display the number of events correlated and the date range of the correlation. This information will be clickable. When clicked, the Correlation Details Side Drawer for that correlation will be displayed.
- New Correlations: If this is the first day of the correlation.
- Continued Correlation: If this is not the first day of the correlation and the correlation is ongoing.
-
New Events: This section will display a list view of individual events for the day selected. Each event displays the following details:
- Its Source (channel)
- The Event itself
- A multi-day Graph of the metric it's based on (the highlighted bar is the date you have selected in the heat map)
- Median (expected value) of the metric it's based on
- Metric it's based on, including peak value and percentage change from expected
- Valuation Change Δ of the metric (peak value from expected)
- Continued Events: Click on the arrow at the beginning of the section to expand the list. Continued Events shows multi-day event detections that began before the date selected. If the event is a multi-post, the number on the left-hand side is the total number of continued events. Clicking that number opens the Side Drawer to show all of the events.
Clicking on any event (correlated or uncorrelated) brings up the Side Drawer for that event.
Limitations
- A minimum of 5 days' worth of data is required for event detection (per channel).
- The Observe dashboard is restricted to the selected container and will display only data from the linked accounts.
- As yet, Median and Valuation Change Δ values are unavailable for events in the Social category.
- Transaction, revenue, and conversion events are visible only within a correlation.
