Creating a 3rd Party Media Report
Web reports are created differently from TV, Radio, and Podcast reports.
Web
The Create 3rd Party Media Report page for Web contains two sections: Report Builder and Article & Keywords Preview.
Report Builder
The Report Builder is where you will create the query used to pull data from the Alembic Media servers.
Start by entering the keyword or keywords into the Search Parameters field that you want to use as the basis of your search. For example, if you want to search for mentions of the phrase "summer fashion," enter "summer fashion" in the Search Parameters field, as shown below.
A guideline for how to formulate your query is as follows:
|
Operator |
Use |
Example(s) |
Caveat(s) |
|---|---|---|---|
|
AND |
To gather results containing more than one term |
chicken AND turkey |
X AND Y searches do not enforce consecutiveness between the terms |
|
"" = quotation marks§ |
To enforce consecutiveness |
"Super Bowl" |
|
|
OR |
To gather results containing one term or the other |
chicken OR turkey |
X OR Y searches also include results that contain both terms: e.g., chicken AND turkey |
|
() = parentheses |
For complex searches that contain multiple distinct operators |
Chevrolet AND (California OR Missouri) vs. (Chevrolet AND California) OR Missouri |
Parentheses are not required for complex searches that contain multiple of the same operator: e.g., ham AND cheese AND sandwich or ham OR cheese OR sandwich |
|
NOT |
To gather results containing one term but not the other(s) |
chicken NOT soup
chicken NOT (soup AND pasta)
(chicken OR turkey) NOT soup |
|
|
Note: Search is case-insensitive. § If you are encountering issues with quotation marks on a Mac, try disabling System Preferences > Keyboard > Text > Use smart quotes and dashes. |
|||
Next, optionally specify the Language and Excluded Domains, as shown below.
If you want to preview the kinds of results you will get with the search criteria, click on Generate Preview on the bottom right. This will populate the Preview.
Once you have the query criteria set, click the Create button in the top right corner. You will be prompted to confirm (or change) the name of the report and decide whether to detect events for the report. As the title of the report is used in various other parts of the application, we recommend keeping the title succinct, yet include enough detail to quickly display what information is contained within the report.
Note: Report titles are not required to be unique, so if you inadvertently name two reports the same, they will both show up in your list of reports.
Clicking Create will finish creating the 3rd Party Media Web report with the search criteria you have set.
Note: Once you create a 3rd Party Media Web report, you cannot edit it. You will have to make a new report in order to have new search criteria.
This will return you to 3rd Party Media Settings where you can see the Status of the report you just created. The report will be In Progress while the data is pulled from the Alembic Media servers; once done, it'll be marked as Completed.
Once your report is Completed, you will see it added to the Channel Selector where you can select it for use in the 3rd Party Media Overview tab or add it to groups.
