Preparing your Adobe Analytics account for integration with Alembic
See the External Resources section below for more information.
Create an Adobe Analytics Profile
- Go to the Adobe Admin Console.
- In the Product Profiles tab, create a New Profile and give it a name (e.g., “Alembic Profile”).
- Configure the profile with the desired reporting suites, metrics, and dimensions.
- Metrics - enable Auto-include: On
- Dimensions - enable Auto-include: On
Create an API Integration Project
- Navigate to the Adobe Developer Console.
- Click the Create new project button or select an existing project.
- (Optional) Click the Edit project button and give your project a title and description.
- Click the + Add to Project button and select API from the drop-down menu.
- Select Adobe Analytics and click Next.
- Select Server-to-Server Authentication and click Next. This should add an OAuth Server-to-Server card under the Credentials section of your project page.
- Click on the OAuth Server-to-Server card to open its detail page.
- Click the Download JSON button in the upper right. This will generate the necessary credentials for you to use in Connecting Adobe Analytics to Alembic below.
-
To find your Global Company ID:
-
Log into Analytics and go to Admin > All admin > Company settings > API Access.
-
The Global Company ID will be displayed near the top of the "API Access" section.
-
Navigate to Link Accounts
Open the user dropdown by clicking the down arrow in the top right corner of the page.
Select Link Accounts.
Connecting Adobe Analytics to Alembic
Before linking your accounts to Alembic, be sure to have the correct settings in place. See the Requirements section below for more information.
1. Click Connect Adobe Analytics.
2. Fill out the form using your API Credentials from Create an API Integration Project. If you encounter issues entering your credentials, reach out to your Alembic Client Partner for assistance.
3. Click Save Credentials. If the linking process was successful, you will see your account listed in the Alembic Link Accounts page. On the Link Accounts page, see the first tab "Accounts you have connected to Alembic" for a full list of all the accounts you have linked to Alembic.
4. Click the blue Linked button next to the report suite that you want to add segments to for the current container, then select Link Segments. This will bring up the Link Adobe Analytics Segments page. If you have segments linked already, they will appear in a table below the Save Segments button.
5. Typing into the text box will pull up a list of segments that you can add. You can add multiple segments at the same time. See Considerations Regarding Segments below.
6. Clicking Save Segments will add the selected segments to the container and return you to the Link Accounts page.
7. For Adobe specifically, additional setup is required before enabling. Please reach out to your Client Partner for further instruction.
Considerations Regarding Segments
- Ideally, you want to include ALL the segments that are key to understanding the container. Metrics within each segment will automatically be transformed into a detector.
- Once you set up a segment, DO NOT change the underlying definition of the segment. We do not go back and update data after it's been ingested into Alembic. For example, if you set up a segment called "North America," we’ll ingest all data for North America. But when you change it to filter by "Desktop" only in the future, then data collected from that point forward will be reflective of that. Detections will be unreliable until the data establishes a new trend (30 days).
Requirements
Please make sure you have the following required settings in place before linking to Alembic. Need help? See the External Resources section below for more information.
-
A segment is required for metrics to be pulled in.
-
Segment must be visible to virtual report suite.
For a full list of requirements, see our Link Accounts article.
Limitations
At the time of linking, Alembic instantly backfills 25 months’ worth of historical Adobe Analytics data.
Time series data is recorded historically. If an account becomes unlinked, all data collection stops until the account is relinked. When the account is relinked, Alembic will automatically backfill the missing time series data.
