Social Media displays the results for all your social media accounts. It provides detailed social metrics and KPI bands for setting goals, breaking out metrics by a single post, and understanding social demographics.
Social Media is updated twice daily.
Navigate to Social Media
To view Social Media, navigate to the Validate page by clicking Validate in the navigation bar.
Click on the Social Media card, as shown below.
Social Media
Social Media opens to a multi-view, which contains the following navigation:
- Overview: This view provides a summary of the various post metrics.
- Calendar: This view shows daily social media activity for each social channel linked to Alembic, dependent on the container selected.
- Top & Bottom Posts: This is a view of the top and bottom posts across your social media channels for the time period selected. This report is often shared with executives on a regular basis, such as weekly or monthly, to provide them with a pulse of social media efforts.
- Resurging Posts: This view breaks down your impressions, engagement, and shares by whether they’re from posts published in the time period or posts that were published previously.
- Performance: This view provides details on impressions, including by date and channel, organic vs. paid, audience gained/lost, growth over time, and engagement.
- Demographics: This view provides demographics by country, city, language, gender, and age.
- Video Overview: This view provides a summary of the various video metrics.
- Video Performance: This view provides details on video views, including by date and channel, audience gained/lost, growth over time, watch time by date and channel, engagement, and video length.
Overview Tab
This view provides a summary of the various post metrics.
Social Audience Size (Followers / Subscribers)
This is a summary of the total number of followers or subscribers, including by social media channel, for the container selected. If a channel shows a value of zero, it likely means that the channel has not been connected to that container.
Valuation Model
Valuation Model is the media value of the time period for selected channels. It is calculated as (Total Impressions/1000) × CPM Rate by channel in the time period. The smaller text shows the percentage and dollar change from the previous time period.
Impressions Growth
Impressions Growth is the total impressions in the time period for the selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and number of impressions from the previous time period.
Followers Growth
Followers Growth is the total followers in the time period for the selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and number of impressions from the previous time period.
Engagement Growth
Engagement Growth is the total engagement in the time period for the selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and number of followers from the previous time period.
Total Followers
Total Followers is the total number of people who have subscribed in the time period for selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and number of followers from the previous time period.
Impressions/Engagement/Shares Grid
The metrics for Impressions, Engagement, and Shares track how a specific item of posted content performed in relation to all other posted content. For example, if a post has a higher number of impressions than that listed In the Top 10%, that post is more popular than 90% of all other posts. GOAT indicates the highest-valued post of all time. You can view the Side Drawer for that particular post by clicking on the GOAT box.
Impressions
Impressions are a measure of how many times a person has seen an item of content. Each time the content is seen, that is counted as one impression. This metric is used to show how many times a specific item has been viewed.
Engagement
Engagement is the number of times a specific item of content has been interacted with by followers.
Shares
Shares is the number of times a specific item of content has been broadcast across selected channels in the selected time period.
Top Demographic
Top Demographic is the group most seen on selected channels. This applies to your followers, not individual posts.
Note: Demographic data is only available for Facebook and Instagram.
Top Country
Top Country is the country with the most people using selected channels, as reported by your social platforms. This applies to your followers, not individual posts.
Note: Country data is only available for Facebook and Instagram.
Top City
Top City is the city with the most people using selected channels, as reported by your social platforms. This applies to your followers, not individual posts.
Note: City data is only available for Facebook and Instagram.
Top Posts, Recent Posts, Top by Campaign, Top by Theme/Topic
These tables list the details for each Post, including Account, Handle, Date/Time, Valuation, Impressions, and Engagement.
- Top Posts is default-sorted by Impressions (most to least).
- Recent Posts is default-sorted by Date/Time (newest to oldest).
- Top by Campaign and Top by Theme/Topic allow you to filter Top Posts by Campaign or Theme by using the dropdown menu in the top right of the table (Select a Campaign/Select a Theme).
You can sort each table by Date/Time, Impressions, or Engagement by clicking on the appropriate column heading (Valuation is not sortable).
If you click on an individual post, a Side Drawer will open on the right with the metrics tracked by your social platforms. The metrics differ by channel.
Calendar Tab
This view shows daily social media activity for each social channel linked to Alembic, dependent on the container selected.
At a glance you can identify posting patterns that may or may not be beneficial:
- Posting too much on the same day may deplete inventory, leaving days without content.
- Always posting on weekends with low engagement may indicate that users are only following activity during the week.
- Missing posting days can indicate an opportunity to increase engagement.
Agency auditing can be done at a glance.
Calendar
The Calendar is grouped by External Posts (which are populated by API calls), Internal Posts (which come from the Alembic posting system), and campaigns (e.g., Default Campaign), as appropriate.
- External posts include all activity across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube. Each linked social media channel is represented by the company's icon.
- Each node represents the number of posts per day by channel.
- The date displayed under each grouping shows the oldest posting date to the present.
Scroll the Calendar by hold-clicking on it and dragging leftward or rightward. You can choose to View by Month (default) or View by Week by clicking on the corresponding button in the upper right.
Hovering over any date node will display all posts for that day by social channel, including account, beginning snippet of the post's text, number of impressions, number of engagements, post time, and post status (e.g., COMPLETE).
Clicking on Analyze for a post will open up the Post Details Side Drawer for that post. Clicking on its status will take you to the post itself in a new tab.
Top & Bottom Posts Tab
This is a view of the top and bottom posts across your social media channels for the time period selected. This report is often shared with executives on a regular basis, such as weekly or monthly, to provide them with a pulse of social media efforts.
Timeline
The Timeline provides a visual representation for the time period selected of when the top-reaching and bottom-reaching posts were published. The green dots indicate a top-reaching post, while the red dots indicate a bottom-reaching post. If a dot has a +1 on it, that indicates more than one top- or bottom-reaching post was made that day.
Top Reaching Posts, Bottom Reaching Posts
These tables display the top and bottom social posts for the time period, respectively, based on the number of impressions. They each include:
- #: The rank of the post.
- Content: On the far left, the icon displayed represents the social media channel where the post was made. If an image was included in the post, it is displayed, followed by the date of the post and the first 255 characters of the post. Clicking on the dots at the end of the post will display the entire text of the post.
- Recommended Hashtags: These are recommended hashtags related to your post that would potentially increase the impressions, based on the number of people who follow those particular hashtags.
- Imp. LTV: The Impressions Lifetime Value displays the total number of impressions for the lifetime of the post, not just for the time period selected.
- Eng. LTV: The Engagement Lifetime Value displays the total engagement for the lifetime of the post, not just for the time period selected.
- Views LTV: The Views Lifetime Value displays the total views for the lifetime of the post, not just for the time period selected. This only applies to posts that contain video.
If you click on an individual post, a Side Drawer will open on the right with the metrics tracked by your social platforms. The metrics differ by channel.
You can expand the number of posts to be shown (5, 10, or 20) by selecting the number of rows per page at the bottom left of each table.
Resurging Posts Tab
This view breaks down your impressions, engagement, and shares by whether they’re from posts published in the time period or posts that were published previously.
Summary
This section provides a summary of your Posts, Impressions, Engagement, and Shares for the period selected (including percentage change from previous), segmented by Published vs. Long Tail.
- Posts are defined by the social media network selected. In general, they are content shared on social media through a user's profile. It can be as simple as a blurb of text, but can also include images, videos, and links to other content.
- Impressions are a measure of how many times a person has seen an item of content. Each time the content is seen, that is counted as one impression. This metric is used to show how many times a specific item has been viewed.
- Engagement is the number of times a specific item of content has been interacted with by followers. This can include comments, likes, etc.
- Shares is the number of times a specific item of content has been broadcast across selected channels in the selected time period.
- Published identifies that the piece of content the above metrics are based on was published during the selected time period.
- Long Tail identifies that the piece of content the above metrics are based on was published outside of the selected time period. This indicates evergreen content.
Top 10
The metrics for Impressions, Engagement, and Shares are sorted by the three categories and track how a specific item of posted content performed in relation to all other posted content. It provides the total number of posts contributing in the selected time period across your owned social media. To clarify, this is not listening data. Rather, it is your own social media. As an example, a sports team might have a highlight clip from last year that everyone looks at again because they are playing the same team this year. This enables you to see your evergreen social media, or those posts that are the “stickiest.”
The Top 10 list has a notable eleventh item called Other, which is the sum of all values for the selected category (in the time period selected) minus the Top 10.
Each ranked item is clickable. If you click on an item, the post and its details will be displayed, including the date of the post, the post's channel, and lifetime (LTV) and time period (In Time Period) values of the post by metric (where appropriate).
Clicking on the associated post will open the Side Drawer for that post.
Published vs. Long Tail
The Published vs. Long Tail chart provides the values and relative percentages of your Impressions, Engagement, and Shares that were published during the selected time period (Published) vs. published outside of the selected time period (Long Tail).
Dailies
An additional view shows the impact by day between Published and Long Tail for the period selected, as seen below.
Hovering over a colored bar reveals the actual value for the category on that day. The date range is provided at the top of the chart for convenience.
Posts Breakdown
In the Posts Breakdown table shown below, you can see the details for each post, including:
- Post is the actual post.
- Published in Time Per. will either display a check mark or an ×. A check mark indicates that the post was published during the time period selected, while an × indicates that it was published in a prior period.
- Days Old displays the number of days since the post was published. In other words, this is the age of the post.
- Impressions displays the number of impressions the post received in the time period selected.
- Engagement displays the number of engagements the post received in the time period selected.
- Shares displays the number of shares the post received in the time period selected.
Note: A dash indicates no value was available.
If you click on an individual post, a Side Drawer will open on the right with detailed metrics related to that post. The metrics differ by channel.
Performance Tab
This view provides details on impressions, including by date and channel, organic vs. paid, audience gained/lost, growth over time, and engagement.
Impressions & Impressions Breakdown
Impressions are the total impressions in the time period for the selected channels. Data reflects all active posts for a particular day, NOT just posts published that day. Times are in UTC for consistency.
If you hover over each bar in the chart, you will see the values by channel for each day.

Graphs
- Audience Gained/Lost indicates the number of followers added or lost for the selected time period by channel.
- Growth Rate over Time shows the cumulative follower count for the selected time period by channel.
If you hover over each bar in the chart, you will see the values by channel for each day. Times are in UTC for consistency.
Tables
In the Breakdown tables, you can see the details for each Handle, including Account, Period Start, Period End, Change and % Change. You can sort the table by Period Start, Period End, Change , or % Change by clicking on the appropriate column heading.
Engagement, Engagement %, Comments, Shares
These graphs and tables summarize Engagement, Engagement %, Comments, and Shares.
Graphs
- Engagement measures the amount of interaction content earns for the selected time period by channel.
- Engagement % measures the amount of interaction content earns relative to impressions for the selected time period by channel.
- Comments measures the number of comments posted for the selected time period by channel. A negative value indicates a comment was deleted or removed, while a positive value indicates a comment was added or shared.
- Shares is the number of times a specific item of content has been broadcast across selected channels in the selected time period.
Data reflects all active posts for a particular day, NOT just posts published that day. Times are in UTC for consistency.
If you hover over each bar or line in the chart, you will see the values by channel (as appropriate) for each day.
Tables

Demographics Tab
This view provides demographics by country, city, language, gender, and age.
Location Totals, Gender, Age
These graphs and tables summarize available demographics. This is for your followers, not individual posts. It does not include followers who did not provide this information, which may result in the demographic values being less than the total audience numbers.
Note: Demographic data is only available for Facebook and Instagram.
Location Totals & Location Totals Breakdown
Location Totals provides the demographic breakdown of your followers by country in the time period by selected channels. Hovering over the individual countries will provide the total followers in each country.
The Location Totals Breakdown table provides follower count (Total) by Country, City, and Language, including audience gained/lost (Change) from the prior period. You can sort the table by clicking on the appropriate column heading.
Gender & Age Tabs
Gender and age demographic information is no longer included in our data streams due to provider changes in data availability. We appreciate your understanding as we continue to work with the information currently accessible.
Video Overview Tab
This view provides a summary of the various video metrics.
Views Growth
Views Growth is the total video views in the time period by selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and number of views from the previous time period.
Average Watch Time
Average Watch Time is the average time a video was viewed in the time period for the selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and watch time from the previous time period.
Engagement Growth
Engagement Growth is the total engagement on all videos in the time period for the selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and number of engagements from the previous time period.
Total Followers/Subs.
Total Followers/Subs. is the total number of people who have subscribed in the time period for selected channels. The smaller text shows the change in percentage and number of followers from the previous time period.
Views/Engagement/Min. Watched Grid
The metrics for Views, Engagement, and Min. Watched track how a specific video performed in relation to all other posted videos. For example, if a video has a higher number of views than that listed in the In the Top 10%, that video is more popular than 90% of all other videos. Graphs
